A judge in Texas has ordered a family’s lawyer to pay $50,000 to a man who says he was “abandoned” by his ex-wife.
Lawyer Andrew W. Womack said in a statement Monday that the judge agreed that Womaczek should pay the money and that the decision is a clear victory for his client, a man named John.
Womaczk says in a court filing that he and his ex had a child together when he was 14, but his ex took custody of the child when he became a teenager.
Woraczek says in the filing that the court made the decision to award child support after he and Womak were divorced and he was no longer able to work.
The decision came after Womacek sued his ex and her lawyer in federal court in Austin, Texas, in February.
Womek says the couple had an affair before he was married.
He says the two never had sex, but that he was unable to have an affair and that his ex “abdicated her duties as a mother and a father” by not raising children with him.
Wommack says the judge found in his favor in part because the woman’s lawyer had not disclosed to the court that she was a woman and had not asked for Womacerks child support.
